It is with a heavy heart that I announce my departure from the Mississauga Festival Youth Choir in order to focus on completing my doctoral degree at the University of Toronto. For four years, I have had the honour and pleasure to serve the MFYC organization – we have created amazing musical moments and bonded over our passion in building musical communities. I’m proud of our continued mission to provide a safe space for new young Canadian residents to express their culture and explore all styles of music…just as you have provided that space for me when I first moved to Canada in 2013. MFYC children and families will always have a special place in my heart because your warmth, generosity, positivity and inclusive spirit, transcends music making and embraces the goodness of community building.
I would like to thank Deborah Bradley, Michael Chang, Cecilia Ramirez, Katherine Dickey, Ana Alvarez, Svetlana Kotliarenko, Snezana Kovac, and the Board of Directors for their tireless support and trust in my artistic vision. I am confident that Katherine will be able to provide the continued leadership that MFYC deserves – her passion for working with young people, artistic and creative skills, and positive energy is admirable! I will be providing Katherine with the support she needs as we navigate this transition of artistic leadership.
This is not “goodbye” but “til we meet again”! I’m excited for the future of MFYC and looking forward to attending performance events. Until then, please accept my best wishes and do not hesitate to stay in touch !
